DOCUMENTARY

The Finish Line

Marcello Pelton came to the United States chasing a basketball career. What he found instead was a reckoning: questions of identity, obsession, and what it means to start over. This short documentary follows his transition from his love for basketball to triathlons, and the quiet courage it takes to walk away from everything you've built.

BROADCAST

UNT Weekly Broadcast: Sports Segment

During my junior year at UNT, I rotated through every role on the weekly 4 p.m. Tuesday newscast: reporter, producer, anchor, and crew. This segment covers the Mean Green's NIT run, the Mavericks' Anthony Davis return, and a Texas Rangers season preview, all produced under a live broadcast deadline.

INVESTIGATIVE

NIL and the Price of College Athletics

One of my earliest video packages, and one that's only grown more relevant. This investigative piece examines how the NCAA's NIL policy has turned the transfer portal into a pay-to-play marketplace, featuring interviews with a current college athlete and a college basketball reporter. My professor ended up submitting this for a national award.

PODCAST

NBA Playoffs Breakdown: First Round

My friend Jordan and I broke down the first-round 2025 NBA Playoff matchups: the Lakers' struggles against Minnesota, what's exposing Houston's youth against Golden State, and whether LeBron has anything left. Conversational, opinionated, and rooted in the tape.

ABOUT

BUILT ON THE SIDELINES.

I grew up in Dallas surrounded by sports. My dad played football and passed that obsession down early. Basketball became my first love, whether I was playing or watching. I was also a four-year member of my high school swim team, which taught me how to compete and how to lose.

At UNT, I turned that background into a journalism career. I've reported from Denton City Hall, covered college athletes, and documented community stories across the DFW area. My junior year, I helped run UNT's weekly 4 p.m. broadcast as a reporter, producer, anchor, and crew member, sometimes all in the same day.

The through line in everything I've made: sports are a lens, not just a subject. The best stories happen when the game ends.

After graduation, I'm looking to join a sports media organization in the DFW area and keep building.
